Shipping Address Reminder

Almost everyone has their addresses in, which is great! About 40 of you still need to complete your surveys by October 31st. :)  That is the date I'll be locking-in addresses, and charging cards for shipping.

I'll send out the surveys once more to those who haven't completed them yet. If you haven't already completed them by now, reach out to me and I'll make sure you get it.

On October 30th, I'll reach out with personal emails as well.  I won't be able to mail you your book unless you provide your address.

Physical Book Arrival Estimates

Printing is still estimated by Friesens to be completed by January 17th. From there, it will be freighted to fulfillment centres in Australia, Canada, UK, and US.  Once at the four different fulfullment centres, they will be labelled, packaged, and shipped to individual addresses.

Canada and US freight will be over land, and should only take a few days to a week to arrive at the fulfillment centres.  Australia bound books will be freighted through the sky, and should only take a few days. The UK bound books will be freighted over sea, which will take around 26 days.  So the outlier here in terms of arrival will be the EU/UK bound books, which are estimated to arrive around three weeks after the other destinations do.  TDLR:

  • Australia/New Zealand, Canada, and US: Early to mid-February
  • UK and EU: Late February/early March
  • Other: Mid February

Hacking Overview, and Survey Reminder
over 4 years ago – Mon, Oct 21, 2019 at 10:11:23 PM

Surveys 90% Completed, Thank You!

For the remaining 10%, it's only crucial if you have a physical book coming to you, since I need to know your mailing address! :)  I will be locking in addresses and shipping on Halloween (October 31st). If you haven't already completed it, check your email for the survey link. If you can't find it even in your spam/junk folders, contact me, and I'll get it to you. :)

Hacking Overview and Icons

In GeneFunk 2090, hacking is used in a broad sense: a modification, enhancement, or ingenious use of technology to achieve one's aims. Think MacGuyver!  In addition to code hacking, hacks come in a variety of flavors, ranging from influencing another’s mind, to altering DNA, to feats of engineering.

Hacks will function similar to spells in D&D, and can produce fantastic technological effects!

Craft Tech. These hacks involve the creation or modification of electronic, mechanical, or biological technology. Weapon upgrades, armor augments, genetic enhancements, and vehicle mods are all examples of this type of hack.

Bot. Bot hacks refer to simple AI programs that the hacker constructs for specific purposes.

Injection. Injection hacks depend on a syringe or hypospray to be effective and typically involve poisons, nanobots, or pharmaceuticals. Buffing/healing allies, or taking down enemies with nasty toxins and tissue dissolving nanobots!

Mind. Hacking into someone's mind through their endogenous computer and altering their mental state. Meddling with senses, mind-reading, puppeteering people, and direct emotional manipulation fall into this category.

Craft Explosives. Grenades, landmines, bombs, and anything else that goes boom falls into this category.

Gadget. Small ingenious devices that have short-lived and instantaneous effects. Cannisters that dispense clouds of nanobots, devices that discharge electricity, and small short-range drones are all examples of gadget hacks.

Software. Classic codehacking of computer software! Disabling electronic locks or security, cracking encryption, or any other alteration of computer code.

The Backerkit Surveys are Out!
over 4 years ago – Thu, Sep 05, 2019 at 07:51:37 PM

You may have noticed an email yesterday from Backerkit! This is where you will provide the final information about your address, and pay for shipping.  About half of you have already completed this, nice! :)

Changing your Pledge

If you've pledged less than 49 CAD, you'll have an opportunity to upgrade your pledge level to get a hard copy of the Core Rule Book. Otherwise, your pledge is locked in as is!

Add-Ons

All pledge levels will be able to add additional hard copy Core Rule Books as an add-on.

Any backer that has a hard copy Core Rule Book also has the option of adding a variant cover with gold foil inlay for 6 CAD. If you didn't notice this when you first completed the survey, you can always go back to add one.

Shipping

You'll be charged shipping costs based on your region, and for now we are still looking at a February delivery date! There are 3 bottlenecks remaining:

1) Completing Layout: I'm still aiming to have this done by late October or early November. The PDF of the core book will become available at this time for all applicable backers.

2) Getting the Books Printed: I'll provide an estimate on their print time once I submit the files. he books will be printed by Friesens, an established print company that has a solid reputation for quality, and has experience with printing TTPRGs. I've seen too many tragic stories on Kickstarter projects that involve less established print companies. :)

3) Getting the Books Shipped: I'll be freighting bulk shipments to fulfillment companies in the US and UK, and a smaller shipment to Australia. From there, they'll be mailed out to individual addresses.  I'll post updates as information becomes available once this process starts.

Things are approaching completion with the playtesting, and the editor is already hard at work! I'll be providing samples of the layout in coming weeks! Cheers everyone!

The Backer Designed Genomes Are Done!
over 4 years ago – Sun, Sep 01, 2019 at 08:52:32 PM

The final draft is almost done, and layout is underway, everything is still on schedule for a late October/early November completion for the GeneFunk 2090 Core Book!  Here is a look at the three backer created genomes that will be included:

OsaLaskas are designed for assassination, complete with skin-morphing abilities and deadly nematocysts on their hands. Leviathans are made for security and military applications, benefiting from durable skin, enhanced musculature, and a nasty bite.  Coelhomortos have their origin in a brutal bloodsport, their design focused on speed, athletics, and reflexes.

The surverys will be sent out soon, and expect more updates regarding layout and art in the coming weeks!
